  “BEWARE! After having the oil changed in my 2007 Chevy Tahoe, they pulled it behind the car wash building and parked it there for a few minutes prior to running it through the wash. The 3rd row seats were stolen during the time that they had possession. The manager emphatically denied the theft stating someone from management is always in this area. He pointed out cameras covering the area and advised that there was no way an employee stole the seats. The police were called to handle the investigation. Prior to making contact with the manager, the officer responded to the rear of the building where my vehicle had been parked, which according to the manager is always monitored by management. The officer stood there for several minutes (where other vehicles waiting to be washed were parked) and never once saw any employees in the area. The manager told the officer that only the owner could authorize the viewing of the video. The officer had the cashier phone the owner for approval. The owner refused to let the officer view the video and told the cashier to just state that she is only a cashier and can't give authorization. The cashier chose not to lie to the officer and told him the truth that the owner just refused to let him view the video.
  The officer stated he has never had any business owners refuse access to a video in the past. The owner's actions only show that he did not want to take responsibility in the event one of his employees stole my seats. I understand that there is always a chance that someone other than an employee stole the seats (doubtful), but what kind of business owner would interfere with an investigation by refusing to release the contents of the video to the police? This crime is not a homicide or violent felony. Therefore, the officer cannot obtain a warrant nor seize the video. Anyone who values their personal property or actual parts from their vehicle better think twice before having it washed at this car wash...the owner cannot be trusted!”
